1st XI v Hartley Wintney

Skipper Dan won the toss and we elected to bat first. Top scorer was Tony Rolfe with a nice 50 before being bowled. Skipper put in a good performance at number 10 to score a quick 31 before being out LBW. Shilpan put on 32 runs as the opener. We scored 222 all out in the 45th over.

In reply, Hartley Wintney just didn't seem to have the batting with virtually their entire batting order falling short on runs. One player managed to score a solid 50 but nobody else came close to that. With 3 wickets for P Cowdrill, 2 each for Dan and Will, 1 each for Ike and Shameel and a final run out, Hartley Wintney finished on 179 all out in the 42nd over.

Thanks to all those who went to IBM early on Saturday to get the pitch prepared so that the match could even take place.

A good win for the Firsts again, made better by the Seconds arriving back after their magnificent last-minute win clutched from the jaws of defeat but that's another story to be told by someone else....

2nd XI v Stockbridge

What a difference a week makes!!!

The game was played at picturesque Crawley as Leckford were holding a fete. Stockbridge won the toss and batted on a dry pitch that actually played remarkably well and the outfield was lightning fast. A full team from IBM took to the field determined to enjoy the day.

IBM started well with Sri claiming the first wicket thanks to a salmon like leap and catch from Skip…Young James Lamprey took two C&B’s and a low total was on the cards…. However the Stockbridge middle order had other ideas and a series of streaky shots saw them to 267 for 7

Skip and Rich Saville opened, the former being dismissed for 0 courtesy of a blinding catch at slip….Rich fell for 21 and Jim Khan and Keethes followed for double figure scores but not the biggy required. However Sri and Krish put on a 100 and a seemingly impossible win was on the cards, with Mo Basit now at the crease, but 9.7 an over was required off the last 10.

Krish fell as did Jayesh attempting to push along the rate. Sri was out for a fine 91 complimenting his 2-17 in 9 overs. 15 off the final over required, Iain Robbins , Usain Boilt like in his running gave Mo the strike and he duly obliged with 6, 6, 4 to bring up his 50 and a 2 wicket win for IBM. Scenes of great delight and merriment with copious jugs back at the Clubhouse.

A truly magnificent win, one that will remain forever long in the memory.

Great credit to the Stockbridge lads as it was a superb game of cricket played in great spirit.
